Edinburga ir pilsēta par kuru laika gaitā dzirdēts daudz laba. Dace pirms ceļojuma arī sagatavoja pāris vietas, kuras vērts apmeklēt. Savukārt es devos uz turieni pilnīgi nesagatavots un atvērts. Biju tik dzirdējis, ka tā ir lieliska pilsēta. Un tā arī bija.
Diena iesākās ar kāpienu Artūra krēslā. Tas ir augstākais pakalns pilsētas apkaimē, kas deva mums iespēju apskatīt un iepazīt pilsētu no augšas. Pilsēta pēc būtības izskatās, kā filmēšanas laukums. Tikai atšķirībā no filmēšanas laukuma, tajā dzīvo reāli cilvēki. Pilsētas centrā viss liekas tik nereāli reāls. Esot tur, var sajust pilsētas dramatiskumu, kas nāk no tumšajām mājām un bruģa ielām. Tiesa pavērojot dziļāk, ir skaidrs, ka viss ir gājis uz priekšu un aiz tumšajiem mūriem slēpjas dzīvīga un moderna pilsēta.
Pēc Edinburgas apmeklējuma ir arī skaidrs, kur Harija Potera autore ir smēlusies iedvesmu. Jā, tieši šajā pilsētā. Bija diezgan lieliski tur pabūt un izbaudīt to. Laimīgā kārtā izdevās arī sastapt jaunus draugu (-us), kuru (-us) noteikti ceram drīz arī redzēt pilnā sastāvā. :)
Pēc lieliski pavadītas dienas, bijām uzņēmuši gana daudz kultūras un pilsētas, kā rezultātā bijām gatavi doties uz Ziemeļiem, lai nokļūtu Skotu Augstienēs (Highlands). Pilsētas ir foršas, tomēr, kad izvēle ir starp pilsētām un kalniem. Kalni vinnē. Vienmēr. ;)

Edinburgh is a city that we have heard lots of good things about. Dace did a bit of research on what to do and see in town, but I had no idea what to expect. I only knew it’s supposed to be a great town. And sure enough it was.
Day started with hiking Arthur’s Seat. It was a good introduction to the city that lies between the hills. City itself was like a movie set, but with actual people living in it. Everything was so unrealistically real. Quite dramatic city, full of dark old buildings and couple castles. Despite all of that, it felt quite modern and vibrant.
After visiting Edinburgh, it felt quite clear where author of Harry Potter got inspiration. It was a fantastic experience and we enjoyed it 100%. We also managed to meet new friends, which hopefully we will meet soon again. :)
At the end of the day we had enough of town and were ready to head north to finally reach Scottish Highlands. Cities are nice, but mountains win over them. Anytime. ;)
